Directions to Pirkey Power Plant Camp Site

• Take I20 East from Longview to Exit 610 (approximately 10 miles east of East Loop 281)
• From Exit 610, go 1.4 miles south on FM 3251 to the Pirkey Plant road.
• Just before the plant road, there is a road sign that reads “Brandy Branch Res. 3 miles).
• There is a Swepco sign reading “Henry W. Pirkey Power Plant” at the plant road intersection.
• Turn right onto the power plant road
• After approx .25 miles, the road will turn left to a security gate.
• Press the red button and identify yourself as a member of the Scout group camping on the island.
• Proceed through the security gate and turn left at the second left (There are guard rails on both sides of this road)
• This road takes you down the center of the island.
• Go approx 1.5 miles and turn right just past the “Laydown Yard.”
• The laydown yard has old pipes and equipment stored there.
• The right turn will end at the company park near the lake.
