Troop 618 meets on Mondays @ 7:00 - 8:30 p.m at Greggton Untied Methodist Church on Pine Tree Road in Longview.

We are a boy lead troop, the first Monday of each month the boy leaders meet and plan the upcoming month.  This is known as a PLC meeting.

PLC includes a Senior Patrol Leader (SPL), Assistance Senior Patrol Leader (ASPL), Quarter Masters (QM), Historian(s), Scribe, and each patrol has a Patrol Leader (PL) and an Assistance Patrol Leader (APL).  The duties of each are found at by clicking on the title on the PLC Leadership page.  Each August the PLC meets and plans out the upcoming scouting year.

We camp each and every month, the Monday night meeting before each camp out each patrol plans their menus. Each patrol is furnished a "chuck box", a camp stove, a lantern, and tents.  We meet at the church on Friday evening and load the trailer and travel by way of church vans to the campsite.  We return to the church Sunday at 1:00.  Boys are not allowed to bring cell phones on campouts.

We attend a winter camp, summer camp and go on a spring break trip each year.   Check out our calendar of events and the links on our home page.

We hold troop elections four times a year.  Each patrol will elect a new assistance patrol leader and the out going assistance patrol leader then becomes the new patrol leader.  If a boy knows he can not fulfill his duties as patrol leader due to other obligations he can opt out of being patrol leader and then the patrol will then need to elect both a PL and a APL.

Court of Honor is the meeting when the boys receive their rank advancement and merit badges.   There are three Courts of Honors each year and parents are encouraged to attend.  Generally they are held in September, January and May.

We also go on high adventure campouts, this is for boys who are in the 7th grade and older.
